About Me
Hello and welcome. My name is Christopher Lee Powell, not to be confused with the late and great actor Sir Christopher Lee. Also, I am not related to the great film composer John Powell. I am a saxophonist and background actor, so you might say some of these traits might be part of the name. Though I may be a bit of a joker, I do take film production seriously.
Producing, Directing, and Cinematography are the areas that I work in. If you are not having fun while making a project, I believe something needs to be corrected. I think that good leadership and teamwork can make tough times better.
I was born in Florida and grew up in Mississippi, but I often traveled to California to visit family, eventually settling in California. Photography was something that I enjoyed when I was a young child and through my college years. As I got older, music became a part of my persona. I played saxophone for nearly twelve years before I got back into photography. While in college, I got to work as a background actor on the set of Fired Up and then again with Michel Gondry on a music video. Sitting and talking to Mr. Gondry and his wife inspired me to look into the film industry.
Since starting in the film industry, I have worked on set as a Second Assistant Camera, First Assistant Camera, Cinematographer, Script Continuity, Producer, Director, and a few other positions for several projects. I have enjoyed working in the film industry and feel the need and the ability to grow within it. As many before me have said, “The best is yet to come!”
